Base Wars Weapons Tier List
Battle Score unlocks, VIP guns, and chase kits ranked for infantry fights and anti-vehicle pressure.
How weapon tiers work in Base Wars
Weapons unlock primarily through Battle Score—kills, assists, facility captures, vehicle destructions, and repairs all feed the wallet you spend in customize. VIP packages add exclusive or accelerated options such as Uber Chaingun, Uber Rocket, and Epic Striker style guided launchers. Chase and anniversary lines (MTs-255, FX-Frostbite, Holofoil Voltonic, FX-Abyss, FX-Leviathan, and friends) sit beside that ladder for collectors and completionists.
Use this list with the loadout planner, armor list, Battle Score guide, and quest weapons. Patch notes on Updates and Recent patches can move individual guns after Rebel variant releases or Holofoil quest seasons. The embedded sniper-focused video is a marksman primer—not a claim that bolts are always S-tier on every map.
Tier key
- S — Default strong picks across most maps
- A — Excellent with a plan or map niche
- B — Playable, situational, or high skill tax
- C — Novelty, challenge, or heavily outclassed right now
Tiers assume competent players in public CTF / facility matches—not only 1v1 aim trainers.
Assault rifles and carbines
S–A: Flexible ARs remain the backbone of Base Wars infantry. Mid-range damage, controllable recoil, and ammo efficiency let you contest flags without swapping kits every death. Prioritize rifles that keep headshot multipliers honest after recent balance passes. Flame or specialty AR variants can jump tiers when they gain velocity or RPM buffs—verify current numbers in-game after big patches.
B: Early starter rifles are fine for learning controls but should be replaced once Battle Score allows. Ultra-expensive endgame ARs are A-tier only if you already own mobility armor and map knowledge; raw stats do not fix bad positioning on Peak’s three-team chaos.
SMGs and close-quarters guns
S–A: High RPM SMGs dominate indoor facility rooms, Classic Battlefield corridors, and last-second flag extracts. Pair with Ammo VIP so reloads hurt less—see Free VIP. Ravenous or special ammo modes on rebel-themed SMGs can spike bodyshot consistency after patches that trade headshot multipliers for raw damage.
B: Low-range pistols and novelty dualies teach movement but lose to armored heavies. Save them for Assassin cloak flanks once you understand spawn timings from the maps tool.
Shotguns
S–A: Pump and auto shotguns punish anyone who swings a doorway without utility. Slug modes extend range; buckshot owns literal point-blank. Watch balance notes—slug accuracy and “large bullet” interactions have been nerfed or adjusted before, so yesterday’s S pick can slide to A overnight.
B–C: Slow pumps without mobility perks struggle outdoors on The Land. Bring a secondary or rocket for jeeps that refuse to enter your blast bubble.
Snipers and marksman rifles
A: Bolt actions and DMRs shine on long sightlines, rooftop holds, and punishing repair campers. They are rarely pure S because objective modes demand closer fights, but a dedicated sniper can delete Uber Armor users who overextend. Practice hold angles and reposition habits from community sniper guides (including the embedded dark886-style breakdown) before blaming the gun.
B: Ultra-heavy anti-materiel rifles punish turrets and light vehicles yet punish your own reposition speed. Great as a secondary role, weak as your only plan when the enemy floods Vortex fighters overhead.
Machine guns and chainguns
S: Uber Chaingun (Uber VIP) is the headline VIP primary for suppression. High volume shreds infantry clumps and pressures light armor when you manage heat and ammo. Free Uber VIP via attendance makes this reachable without Robux—compare options on the VIP guide.
A: Non-VIP LMGs unlocked with Battle Score fill similar roles at a cost. They eat Ammo VIP alive, so attendance progress matters. Heavy chase MGs such as Blizzard HMG can sit here when the map gives you a nest and teammates screen air.
B: Deployable heavy turrets are strong on defense but freeze you in place—vehicles and AP rounds counter hard. Use them to lock a hallway, not to chase flags.
Rockets, lock-ons, mortars, and Epic Striker family
S–A: Guided and lock-on rockets define anti-vehicle infantry. Uber Rocket and Epic Striker-style eye-guided launchers (Epic VIP territory historically) let solo players threaten Battle Tanks and aircraft when flares are down. They often occupy a distinct loadout slot from normal rockets, so you can still carry another launcher depending on pass rules. Indirect options like HNY Mortar punish camped pads when you have a spotter.
B: Dumb-fire spam works in chokepoints but feeds experienced pilots who juke. Learn smoke and flare counters before you blame the tier list.
Chase, quest, Rebel, and seasonal weapons
Name the guns players keep asking about—then judge them honestly after a week of public play:
- MTs-255 — v22.2.x-era bench expander; provisional A until the lobby settles
- FX-Frostbite — seasonal FX kit; strong flex, map-dependent value
- Holofoil Voltonic — Holofoil quest chase; collection first, DPS second until proven
- FX-Abyss / FX-Leviathan — anniversary / VIP-adjacent chase pieces often discussed with Anniversary VIP unlock paths
- ARC SPDR-25b — specialty ARC line; learn recoil before ranked pride matches
- HNY Mortar — area denial and pad pressure
- Blizzard HMG — suppression nest gun when you have cover
Full unlock routes, quest steps, and Holofoil objectives live on Quest weapons. Rebel kits (Breacher shotgun aggression, Sentinel weak-point puzzles, RBL-R stalking mines) can temporarily warp Skirmish and PvE-adjacent pressure—see Rebels and Updates. Treat fresh drops as A until proven, then re-rank.
Challenge guns that boost Battle Score gain at the cost of raw power sit in C for winning but A for grinding—use them when farming unlocks, not during ranked pride matches with friends.
Suggested unlock order
- Reliable AR or SMG for your preferred map distance
- One shotgun or CQC answer for facilities
- A rocket / lock-on option before heavy vehicle metas
- Marksman tool if you play Peak overlooks
- VIP exclusives once Ammo VIP / Uber VIP are owned
- Chase / Holofoil / anniversary toys after you understand how to win and have checked Anniversary VIP
Cross-train with vehicles so you know when to leave the gunfight and steal a Vortex instead. Infantry wins rooms; vehicles win rotations.

- Anti-armor: Epic Striker / Uber Rocket / mortar pressure + mid AR + cover discipline

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Base Wars codes, VIP, loadouts, and combat.
What is the best beginner weapon type?
A controllable assault rifle or carbine. It covers mid-range fights while you learn maps, then branch into SMGs or shotguns for facilities.
Is Uber Chaingun worth the Uber VIP grind?
Yes for players who like suppression and extended firefights. Free attendance Uber VIP makes it one of the best long-term infantry unlocks.
Do I need Epic Striker to fight tanks?
No, but guided launchers help a lot. Team with Battle Tank or MAC Tank allies, use lock-ons, and attack rear armor when possible.
Should I unlock snipers early?
Only if you already have a solid close-range gun. Snipers punish mistakes but struggle alone on objective pushes—use marksman guides for hold habits, not as your only kit.
Where do chase guns like MTs-255, FX-Abyss, or Holofoil Voltonic fit?
Treat them as provisional A-tier until the player base settles. Follow Quest weapons for unlock paths and Anniversary VIP when the FX / Leviathan lines are pass-gated.
Does Ammo VIP change weapon tiers?
It raises the practical value of hungry guns—LMGs, chainguns, Blizzard-style HMGs, and spray SMGs—because you reload at pads less often.
